If you follow us on social media, you’ll know that IPEC will be taking part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 19th May to raise funds for Manchester Mind (visit our fundraising page if you’d like to donate). This event is the first in a series of health and fitness based activities IPEC will be partaking in over the summer in support of our Charity of the Year Manchester Mind.
Manchester Mind provides a wide range of support services and projects to alleviate the impact of poor mental health on young people, adults and families living in Manchester, UK. The charity supports around 5000 people every year, and the funds we raise will help to support the increasing demand for mental health services in our local area.
Studies show that regular exercise is one of the most effective ways to improve mental health. Our summer of health and fitness initiatives not only aims to raise funds for an important local charity but to also promote workplace physical activity to foster a happier and healthier team.
With just 1 month to go until the Great Manchester Run, the fitness buzz is certainly taking over our office, with lunch-time group runs becoming a regular occurrence at IPEC HQ.
Following the run, we will be continuing the health kick by attempting to collectively travel the distance from Manchester to Madrid in time for CIRED 2019, the 25th international conference and exhibition on electricity distribution on 3rd June. Our route will take us 1,574 miles via London, Paris, Lyon, Barcelona and finally Madrid.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has sponsored us so far. If you’d like to help us support Manchester Mind, please visit our fundraising page here. Any donation made, no matter how small, will help to make a difference.
